Radford Cormnand Master Chief i : :H x 8 fs umm f,.jlta CZEQLIHIIIIIQ Runnin 5 A num! ...,4 Master Chief Kevm Lavm a native of St Petersburg Florida enlisted in the U S Navy in February 1975 and after completing electronics training reported aboard the USS SHENANDOAH CAD 265 in July 1976 While on board the SHENANDOAH Master Chief Lavm completed two extended deployments with the U S Sixth Fleet He then reported to Ground Electronics Maintenance NAS Jacksonville in January 1980 After completing that tour in July 1981 he Was stationed for one year at U S Naval Aviation Weapons Facility at RAF St Mawgan in the UK His next sea assignment was on board USS TATTNALL CDDG 195 from June 1982 to May 1985 during which he participated in Lebanon operations from October 1983 to February 1984- He then reported to Fleet Training Center Norfolk Virginia where he taught Instructor Training and Curriculum Development courses During this tour he founded the FTC Norfolk Petty Officers Association and was selected as 1988 Instructor of the Year Chiet Lavm reported aboard USS SAIPAN CLHA 25 in May 1989 and took part in Operation SHARP EDGE the non combatant evacuation he attended the U S Navy Senior Enlisted Academy graduating with several honors in July 1992 ln Au ust 1992 Senior Chief Lax in reported to Navy Satellite Communications Facility Northwest in Chesapeake Virginia as Site Supervisor where he played a key role in the rapid expansion of the Navy s SHF C41 capabilities He was selected to Ma t Ch f P tt Off I1 A Til ser ie ey 1cer1 P 1995 Master Chiet Lax in reported aboard the USS YORKTOWN CCG 485 as Command Master Chief in June 1995 where he helped llilfiale d I h an imp ement t e Navy s innox atiwe Smart Ship Project He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Re ents College in 1996 He xx as then selected and served as Command Master Chief in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CCVN 735 from Deceitber 1996 I0 December 1998 Durm this tour the GW won the Battenberg Cup two Battle Efficiency awards the Golden Anchor and numerous other recovnitrons for excellence Master Chief Lax in was then selected for and assigned as Group Master Chief for Commander Western HemIS19hefe Group in January 1999 He reported to USS ARTHUR W RADFORD CDD 9685 as Command Master Chief in September 1999 Master ChtefLaw1n s decorations mclude the Meritorious Service Medal five Navy Commendation M d l d 15 e a s two Navy Achievement Me 21 5 six Good Conduct Medals Expert Pistol Medal and xaiious unit commendations and campaign awards .L ,..C.nL ,, L, ' t , , 31:34 .' .
