EXECUTIVE UFFICER LCDR Robert A. Schlegel LCDR Schlegel is a 1985 graduate of Washington and Lee University and received his commission in 1986 upon completion of Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. His first sea tour was USS SPARTANBURG COUNTY CLST 11925, where he served as Combat Information Center Officer, Electronic Material Officer and Gunnery Officer. In 1988 LCDR Schlegel transferred t0 USS HARRY E. YARNELL CCG 175 for a tour as Damage Control Assistant. He served as Cruise Missile Instructor in his first shore duty at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic. LCDR Schlegel served a single longer department head tour HS Engineer Officer in USS SCOTT CDDG 9955 from 1993 to 1996. Following this tour he was assigned to the Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet staff as the Officer-in-Charge of the Tomahawk Afloat Planning System and the Tomahflyvk action officer for the Director of Operations, Plans and Policy. He assumed duUCS as Executive Officer in USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD CDD 9685 in May 1999. His next duty assignment is the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Arlington, Va LCDR Schlegel holds a Master of Arts degree from Old Dominion Universifl' d an a Naval War College diploma for completion of Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commenda- tio M d ' ' ' n e al and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He is maffled to the former Dawn Marie Richardson of Baltimoreg he and his wife reside in Virginia Beach.
