Restless seniors endure spring semester Ever notice someone next to you in the hall acting a bit strange? Next time you hear someone belting out an Irish drinking song whild doing a little jig, ask him what class he’s in. Chances are this dingbat is a senior. After thirteen years in school, the knowledge that he will soon be graduating hasavery strange effect on the average senior. Individual reactions may vary, but all seniors fit into one of the three basic catagories. By the end of January, most college-bound seniors have heard from the college of their choice. To the senior reading his acceptance letter, the tear of joy soon becomes a tear of anguish as he reads the last paragraph, which often requests a deposit toward his first semester. Some seniors have been rejected by the college of their choice. To these unfortunate souls is given the Herculean task of completing ap- plications to community colleges by the deadlines. The second group of seniors include those who do not plan to attend college. They endure the long dull hours of the spring semester to earn a diploma and, hopefully to better their chances in the job market. The final group includes the apathetic seniors. Not aiming for college, or even a regular job, a few students for get about the second semester and end up dropping out or being kicked out for skipping. Second semester seniors all have one thing in common—the desire to graduate with the least possible effort and do it without going crazy.
