LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the graduates of ' 50 are proud that we have been able to com- plete, successfully, our twelve years here at Arthur High School, but we are not too fond by the nearness of the time when we shall have to say good-bye. Some of us wjll continue our studies in higher fields; while others will face the future and make the best of it, thankful for the education received here in Bellarthur. Now we realize that we shall have to leave, and accordingly we wish to leave to our successors those qualities that have guided us to become Seniors and to complete our Senior year. Article I T© our parents and friends, we leave our sincere thanks for their part in helping us to get this far up the path of life. Except for their work, sacrifices and love we would stil] be far behind in our young lives. Article II To our principal and teachers, we leave our thanks and love for their patience and wisdom in leading us over the rough places of our youth. Article III T© our successors. The Juniors, we leave our willingness to get ahead , our ability to enjoy life educationally, and the privilege to continue their studies under the same instructions that we were taught. Article IV I, Frances Crawford, leave my well-behavior and politeness to the Junior class, and my guard position on the basketball team to Virginia Dunn. I. Virginia Crawford, leave my ability to play basketball and going to a show on a date to Louise Tyson. I, Alma Daniels, leave my pretty eyes and my quietness to Joan Tyson and my ability to use make-up to Bobby Jean Nanny. I, Henry D mn, leave my ability to get a date at any time to Glenn Strickland, and my good behavior to Weldon McLawhorn. I, Bill Erwin, leave my ability to date regularly and my popu- larity to Becharles Anderson. I, James Gurganus, leave my ability to date a good-looking girl to Sidney Allen and my brown and white shoes to Mr. Zeh. I, Oscar Hodges, leave my scholastic record to Vernon Nichols and my ability to leave other people alone to Deanie Vandiford. I, Ellen Lloyd leave ray dependability, trustworthiness, and guidance to Peggie Heath, and my quick temper to Mattie Pearl Rhodes. 10

I, Ardeen McLawhorn leave my guard position on the basketball team and my popularity to Trilby Lee Smith. I, Harper Rasberry, leave my ability to drive anything on wheels to Weldon McLawhorn, and my wittiness to Robert Crawford. I, Roland Young, leave my good grades and my ability to pay attention on class to Larry Lewis. Article V To everyone - parents, faculty members, friends, and fellow- students, we leave our love to each of you and with all our heart we sincerely hope that you will be happy through all the years of your lives. We now appoint Mr. Garlan Bailey chief executor of this, our last will and testament. Signed: The Graduates of 1950 CLASS PROPHESY The sun rises again over the modern, hustling little city of Bellarthur - truly a picture of progress and prosperity. Let’s look in on the graduates of 1950, for they helped to make it so. See that imposing structure across the street? That’s the First National Bank of Bellarthur, and there’s the president going in the door now. Who would have thought that Harper Rasberry would have made the grade and become a bank president? Ahi What a lovely lady that is walking down the street. One can tell at a glance that she is a business woman, and successful too. I -JVhy it’s Ellen Lloyd J I Above the noise of the busy street can be heard another sound. ! The roar of the motors of a large passenger plane fills the air. The plane is one of many belonging to Pan-American Airways, which has a I branch in Bellarthur. President of this local branch is none other than our old classmate Roland Young. That’s a shiney new patrol car Cpl. Bill Erwin is driving. We understand that Bill has a fine record in Highway Patrol work. Criminals had better watch out when he gets on their trail. II
