' ' '-'-1 trh 'cf S'iIf'A.l-'sr ikw' EJ '5. ' Of l 7 1 - ' , ' --c l l l r We are more fortunate than Inglewood, Palmdale and Northern Ca. Highschools, because we still have Coach Ackerman. Throughout the years Mr. Ackerman and his winning teams have brought and built the Spirit of Artesia High. Mr. Ackerman was born on May 26, 1924 in Oregon. Coach Ackerman graduated in 1942 from john High. During his years in high school he played on the basketball team and was quarterback on the football team. After Mr. Ackerman finished high school he joined the Navy and spent 3 yrs. in the Commission's office. Mr. Ackerman married his wife, Dorothy in 1951 and now has 5 children. In 1957 Mr. Ackerman began teaching at Artesia High. Mr. Ackerman was coach of the Bee Football team in 1958 and 1959. Mr. Ackerman is now teaching Algebra and is head Basketball coach. He has coached Varsity Basketball since 1959. Because of Coach Ackerman's enthusiasm and spirit, Artesia high has found pride in going to C.I.F. 10 times.
