Football team turns out a winner, ends 8-2 The varsity team got off to a winning season this year beating Shortridge in their first game, but losing to Howe in their next game. After that, they won six consecutive games before finally getting beaten by Chatard. It was the first win- ning season Tech has had since 1965. The Titans had a strong team this year, losing only five seniors from the year before and having eight seniors try out who hadnlt played since they were fresh- men. Not all was to the Greenclads' advan- tage: they were without coach Willie Mar- tin, Cwho had pneumoniaj part of the season. The Titans finished 8-2 for the season. 1974 VARSITY FOOTBALL TECH OPPONENT 14 Shortridge 0 8 Howe 1 1 27 Broad Ripple 13 34 Wood 0 18 Scecina 14 42 Arlington 14 14 Marshall 6 62 Attucks 7 12 Chatard 46 20 Bloomington North 0 BELOW: Greg Miller C107 starts to execute a pitch-out to Kenny Lee f33J. Besides practicing at the end of the summer, five of the twenty girls attended a week at Tri-State Majorette Camp and FEATURE TWIRLER: Janice Berry were proud to bring back a blue ribbon awarded to them for their hard work and enthusiasm. They were Kathy Miller- pom-pon captain, Kyle Thompson-twirl ing captain, Doreen Martin, Reba Sears and Bonnie Thompson. All twenty girls put in extra time in summer practices and after school ses- sions to make this yearis corps the best. They succeeded very well with the help of their sponsor, Sheila Sullivan. She is very proud to sponsor such a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed group of girls.
