As an introduction to their unit of study on newspapers, English Ill classes receive instruction, courtesy of the Indianapolis Star-News and Mr. Lloyd Anderson, educational service co- ordinator. His assistant, Mrs. jane Staley, shows slides and explains how a modern newspaper is produced. Pictures, dramatic action- English is self-expression Which book would you choose? Gone With the Wind or Becket? Each winner of the Paragraph Con- test had the privilege of selecting any paper back book in the English Office. The contest was centered on the English Department theme of Open House, Always keep in the best company when you read. Best compositions were selected from each English class and sent on for final competition. More enthusiasm sparked as stu- dents polished their best compo- sitions and poems for possible pub- lication in Skylines, a collection of creative writings organized yearly by the public schools. Nationally, five juniors, jennifer Hylden, R. Kim Vaughn, Terry Boyd, Wendy Ross, and Allan Roberts, represented Tech in the National I8 Rehearsing the play, Fumed Oaks, Bill Barton and Anita Marcum play up an action scene in their drama class, taught by Mr. Robert Maloy. Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards. After testing and submitting writings, they re- ceived the recommendation of the council to the colleges of their choice.
