The musical memories of 59 can be largely contributed to the many activities of the Arroyo Grande High School Band. They have enioyed an exceptionally active year under the expert direction of George C. Beatie. Providing a musical background to the cheers of Arroyo Football fans, the band was a major tool in the shaping of school spirit. As they marched onto the field during half-time, the rooters would rise to their feet and pay verbal tribute to the spirited musicians. Even without football games, the band was still active, performing in five parades, pre- senting their Ninth Annual Band Show, and with the participation of various members of the band, plus members from other schools, a Clinic Band was held at the Valley Road Gym. Their concert music rates high honors and is truly the best for listening. As a rating for this organization, it may be stated as tops. BASSOON: Patricia De Leon. Concert Bond Arroyo Grande's very fine band received a Superior rating in the county band festival. This well schooled group of musicians is a credit to its director, Mr. George Beatie.
