Fqllowing the crowd is not necessarily bad, and we all know it is far easier to follow the path made by the crowd than to strike out on a new course where the trail is not yet broken. More important is that, in our great nation, you have the right to choose which you shall do--to agree with others and follow their lead, or to disagree and set your own destination. The right to make a choice, like any other God-given right cherished in our American heritage, carries with it the obligation to choose wisely. To help you in the decisions you must make in life many persons have worked together to provide you with a basic education, now drawing to an end. Soon it will be yours to choose, and I urge that you dare to be different, but do so prudently, with integrity, and with sound judgement founded on truth. R. Koepke, District Administrator, B.S., M.S. SCHOOL BOARD Dr. Robert McNeil, George Weinberg, Nancy Dross, Fred Staus, Mrs. Warren Brown, Joseph Johnston, Kenneth Leque.

No teacher is forgotten who truly gives his life for youth; through them he serves and lives. William H. Holmes This year's annual staff considers it an honor and pleasure to dedicate the yearbook to a teacher who has given his time unselfishly through the last twenty years to students. He has devoted many outside hours to camping trips with student activities and being advisor, teacher and companion to all as the need has arisen. In the classroom he teaches not only the how but also the why. He stimulates students to further individual study by raising questions in the inquiring minds of those in his classes. His wisdom and classroom manner combined with humor, earn him the respect and affection of the entire body. It seems only fitting that the annual staff, honor and salute Mr. Robert Hughes by dedicating this year's War- hawk to him. DEDICA TION 4

It is entrusted in every high school graduate the supreme respon- sibility of making the world a better place in which to live. It is evident that many of our graduates have begun to realize this. They have given their energies conscientiously for unselfish purpose. It is this kind of achievement that will make efforts have purpose in school and throughout life. Rather than say, What can I do to help myself raise your sights to say, What can I do to help mankind. In so doing, you will have found the key to a satisfying life. D. M. Stevens, Principal B.S., M.S. - ■ Life seems to be one endless struggle between opposing forces . . . right versus wrong . . . day versus night . . . happiness versus sorrow . . . smiles versus frowns . . . democracy versus isms . . . work versus play . . . success versus failure . . . love versus hate . . . life versus death. It is for us to choose with which forces to align ourselves. If we choose wisely, we will find happiness in our work; love will triumph over hate; success will victor over failure. A. E. Zietlow, Assistant Principal B. S. COUNSELORS: Miss Janet Kahn, Mr. John Ceske, Mr. Carl Benrud, Miss Virginia Feurer.
