1 964 WARHAWK Arrowhead High School Hartland, Wisconsin The degree of greatness attained by a nation is largely the total of the individual greatnesses of the people--a greatness measured by willingness to do tilings for themselves. Failure to do those things, requisite for the fullest possible self-development, leads to the assumption of a directing, authoritarian role by a few people. You have been trained to manage your own affairs, and to accept those responsibilities society requires of you. May you so direct your life to reflect that training and by intelligent self-direction maintain our national greatness and eliminate any possibility of autocratic rule by a few. Experience is said to be the best teacher. If we are to maintain a strong and free republic, our youth must be taught democratic principles and ideas. Our Student Senate teaches these ideas through experience by letting each student participate in a Student Government. We are organized into a bicameral system patterned after our Federal Govern- ment. The House of Homerooms is composed of one representative from each homeroom and is run by the President. The House of Organizations, which is led by the Vice-President, consists of one representative from each recognized school organization. The major activities of the Senate are; Homecoming, International Fair, and Prom. We also distribute the dances among the clubs and handle the snack bar and con- cessions. Our profits are spent contributions to worthwhile organizations (American Field Service, Scholarship, etc.) and purchasing items for the school. There is Senate meeting once a week, alternating between the two houses. Important business must be voted on in both houses. Every Friday after school, the Advisory Council meets to set up agenda and carry on necessary business. The Advisory Council consists of two elected members from each house and five officers, the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Reporter. I feel that we are having a good and prosperous year. We have a lot of talent in our school, and we are beginning to use it. I hope that we are contributing our part to the school by helping to build stronger character and better citizens. 64 Richard Pariza, President of Arrowhead's Student Senate HOUSE OF ORANIZATIONS SEATED: R.
