To this group were added two new members, Lyall Beighle and Ray Dexter. We are now at the half way mark with the loss of but one member, Ermal Spears. When the school heldits Annual Carnival the Sophomores gave a one- act play. As this only took three members of our class, we decided to have a popcorn booth as well. The play was entitled, The Train ToMauro. The characters were as follows, Mrs. Buttermilk, Katherine McFadden, Johnny Buttermilk, Lawrence Davis, Mr. Bright, Ray Ballard. The a- mount cleared at the booth and play was about twenty dollars, which was an increase of eleven dollars over, the proceeds of our Freshman booth. On the twelfth of December the class had a party at the home of Kath- erine McFadden. All members were present and the evening was enjoyably spent in playing games. After refreshments were served, the Class joined in singing the High School song. At one of the pep meetings the Sophomores gave evidence of their dram- atic tendencies by putting on a stunt consisting of three acts which were entitled, Hugo's Victory , How our defence looks to Hugo and Arriba's Rooters . Our Class also took an active part in the Spanish Operetta. The Tore- adors of Spain . In this production the Sophcnzcres were represented by Ray Ballard in the Boys' Chorus, Bernice Youngdahl in the Girls' Chorus and Esther Hohlfeld, Katherine McFadden, Mary Palsa and Viola Davis were dancing girls. The School Orchestra made its formal appearance at the Operetta. Three of our members, Lyall Beighle, Ray Ballard and Ray Dexter are in this Orchestra. They play respectively the banjo, violin and clarinet. Bernice Youngdahl, when a Freshman, played on the first team as guard Her experience and ability of this year' of Basket ball accounted for her playing the same position again thisyear. As all except two of the Soph- -omores come to High School distances varying from two to twenty-five miles, the Class has been hindered seriously in taking part in the athletics for this reason. Ray Ballard became yell leader in place of Mable and Paul Peckham when it was found necessary to select someone who was not on either team, and so Mr. Gammill turned naturally to our class for an announcer to serve at the Track Meet to take place May 1. Ray had proved a suc cessful yell leader and he became a full pledged official on the track grounds In the year 1925 we had two representatives in track at Burlington They were Bernice Youngdahl and Viola Davis. These same girls took part this year. Bernice won a blue ribbon and broke the Eastern Colorado shot record. This was the first .year we had any Contestants from our Class enter the Literary Meet. We started well for Ray Ballard won third on his violin solo and this gave one point towards the cup our school was awarded We hope that every one of our members will return next year and that we will prove ourloyalty to A. H. S. that the Junior Class of '27 may be one which teachers and students will delight to honor. ,........ ' ff ' ., ,. .if ff f I ' ' iT ju
