A fl A GLASS Pnoierrnov fl The class of '26 had for along time been undecided as to how they i would have their future foretold. The idea of going to a magician did not E prove satisfactory as they might find life monotonous knowing, as they would, what was decreed for their future. However, they soon agreed I upon aplan. Their sponsor, Mr. Gammill, and each member solemnly 1 if xl vowed to meet at the Arriba Gymnasium twenty-five years later and i - E hold a reunion. E W E TIME: TWENTY-FIVE YEARS LATER IN ARRIBA The scene opens in the city of Arriba. An aeroplane is circling over the Aviation fieldg finally the plane lands safely. A man steps out of the E i plane and seems to be searching for the familiar spots of long ago. The .aviator has a Van Dyke beard and his appearance suggests Europe and ex- l E if i tensive travel. He is somewhat taller than the Oscar of twenty-five years fa 2 l Lago but his brown eyes have the merry twinkle as of old. He leaves his i i machine and goes to Broadway, the main street of a quarter century ago. E - He inquires where the Arriba Gymnasium is and is told the Old Gym is I in the northern part of the cityg also that there are two new high schools, S i East and Central. l El 2 j 1 I 2 . As he approaches the Gymnasium a Limousine draws up to the curb and f Q a well dressed woman of about forty steps out. He recognizes his old class- - mate, Ruth Blair. Her features have not changed but this is not the slen- E l der girl once called Slats,,' but a rather fleshy middle aged woman. E' li Ruth goes forward and inquires of Oscar if this is the Arriba Gymnasium, 5 E l He seeing she does not recognize him, tells her who he is. As they ap- 5 l proach the Gymnasium a small grey haired man is seen hurrying out of the front door with a book under his arm. He is heard murmuring to him- ' 2 9 2 l self, Late as of old. They recognize Supt. Gammill and greet him. The E E U' o o W' r CD ,.. I E A few moments later Paul appears and it looks as if he had not prosper- g if i ed during the last few years, for his clothes are ragged and he has driven F up in a rattly old Ford. He walks toward the others somewhat embarrass- g ,. l ed and greets them in his customary cheerful way. At this time the street l car stops and Leona steps out, glances about inquiringly for several min- I f l autes. She has not changed much except for the fact that she is somewhat g 5 1 Q lf i taller. i L i e f Soon they begin talking and before long all are laughing over reminis- - f .eenses of school life in old A. H. S. and the later experiences of each out in E the big cold world . Oscar is a lieutenant in the Aviation Corps of the .United States and Ruth has just gained. fam.e as an. Opera singer. CLASS SONG CTune: Farewell to Thee.5 Now our High school days are at an end, The parting hour is coming soon, And, We think while swift the moments pass, How delightful have been our High school days. Fare-well to thee, fare-well to thee, Our High school days are at an end, But We will hope for brighter days to come, When friend shall meet with friend. We have seen together now the time When the way seemed very, very long But the joys that have been yours and mine, Made the journey as pleasant as a song. CLASS POEM You don't regret the labor, When all your Work is through, You can't recall a single care 'That troubled and fretted you. When the ship is at the anchor, And you step upon the shore, You feel bigger, far and better Than you ever did before. When youive realized your ambitions, Whether great or small they are, Every step you take advancing Puts you farther 'cross the bar. Then you're glad you've seen it through And your pride swells from within, You are better trained to do Than without trials you would have been. When your High School days are over And in other fields you roam: Then you have a dreadful feeling Since you've left your own school home. But you find that evey rule, Was needed and not out of place, For the things you learn in Hi School Will help you win the race. - 559. iff A , 1 1 l Ie: T2 il la l i? li i 5 1 'E ii .1 sl i gi E Q I S .lg y 5. gif .I . rl HE lp l., ill EH le ll? lll E Egl .13 lj il ,lf JEVQJ
