It is a chance for students to take part in a mock government modeled after our state government The students take part in electing officials and par- ticipating in the legislative process. Although this was the first year that the academic team was officially formed, the members were enthusiastic and many of them attended most of the meets. Arnett’s competitors were Gage. Vici Sharon — Mutual in the Red Carpet Country Association. Five of the team members (pictured) attended the Waynoka one-day meet, which is an independent competitive match. Four of the team members — Tom, Greg, Chelle, and Nick — represented the Arnett Beta Club in its convention competition. The last competition of the year was the Spring Knowledge Master Open, a quiz bowl competition sponsored by Knowledge Master, a computer soft- ware company. WAB. L-R: Danielle Spencer, Amy Hicks, Stacey Habekott. Clayton Barton, Grant Anding. 29 BETA CLUB “THE BETA TRIP” — Yes, ihe Beta trip to Washington. D.C. was the highlight of 1986. For many Beta members it could very well be one of their most memorable high school experiences. Tom Hanan and Greg Bayless edited and enhanced with groovy music the video of the Beta Trip. This video was shown to the junior and senior high students, faculty and guests from Fargo H.S. during the Annual Beta Assembly. Also during the assembly, new members, Jennifer Nichols, Nick Habekotl, and Robbie Jo Peters were initiated into the Bela Club. The 1986-87 officers were installed. The Beta members will always remember the pizza and cookie combinations — that is, baking Valentine cookies and pigging out on pizza. Their Valentine cookie sale made enough cash to pay for their state conven- tion trip again this year. Back Row, L-R: Tom Hanan, Nick Habekott, Greg Bayless, Stacey Habekotl. The Juniors went to a lot of trouble and hard work to give the Seniors a prom they will remember for years to come. The Sophomores did a good job of serving, with the one exception of a slightly wet dress due to a water spill. The Seniors tried a new idea, they used video tape and created a “movie” prophecy and everyone loved it. The music was provided by the KATT radio station from OKC.
