The Dawn of a New Era The year 1973-74 has truly been the Dawn of a New Era. During that year many new things came into the light of the na- tion. The most dominating of these were the energy crisis and Water- gate. These two things might not have been considered good', but they did help the Nation in sev- eral ways. Due to the energy cris- is, companies began to experi- ment with new types of automo- biles, while others developed new types of artificial oils and lubri- cants for cars. After Watergate became a nation-wide news item, a movement for political reform was started. To offset the bad, many good things happened in 1973 and 1974. The Vietnam War was ended, and many advances were made in sci- ence, technology, medicine, and many other areas, too numerous to mention. The newest thing that hap- pened to the school in 1974 was the time change. Believe it or not, not, starting on January 7, school started at 9:50 A. M. and was dis- missed at 4:15 P. M. This was dif- ficult to get used to at first, but after a while, most people did not think a thing about it. Yes, the year 1973-74 was truly truly the Dawn of a New Era. 4
