THE 1974 WILDCAT Arnett Public Schools Arnett, Oklahoma We Dedicate This Yearbook to Mr. Jay Knowles . . . has always seemed to be a kind and generous man, yet firm at times when he needed to be. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters in Education. He has had 44 years of service to the schools. He taught Industrial arts, shop, and his- tory for 22 years and drivers education for 25 years and during the summers until recently. For the last 22 years he has been County Superintendent of Ellis County Schools. Mr. Knowles is now retired from office, but is still active with his farm. He is truly a great man and will long be remembered for his many contri- butions to our school and the other schools of our county. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Knowles Mr. Chaffin presents Mr. Knowles with a mo- mento from the teachers of Ellis County. 2 The 1974 “Wildcat” Staff CO-EDITORS ADVISOR Kevin Allard and Jo Veta Martin Mrs. Coram BUSINESS MANAGER Maxine Arterberry PERSONNEL Sandra Chisum This page is sponsored by THE ELLIS COUNTY CAPITAL PHOTOGRAPHER JUNIOR MEMBERS Donald Jennings Darla Vincent, Carolyn Hunter, and Beverly Thorn The Dawn of a New Era The year 1973-74 has truly been the Dawn of a New Era. During that year many new things came into the light of the na- tion. The most dominating of these were the energy crisis and Water- gate. These two things might not have been considered good', but they did help the Nation in sev- eral ways. Due to the energy cris- is, companies began to experi- ment with new types of automo- biles, while others developed new types of artificial oils and lubri- cants for cars. After Watergate became a nation-wide news item, a movement for political reform was started. To offset the bad, many good things happened in 1973 and 1974. The Vietnam War was ended, and many advances were made in sci- ence, technology, medicine, and many other areas, too numerous to mention. The newest thing that hap- pened to the school in 1974 was the time change. Believe it or not, not, starting on January 7, school started at 9:50 A. M. and was dis- missed at 4:15 P. M. This was dif- ficult to get used to at first, but after a while, most people did not think a thing about it. Yes, the year 1973-74 was truly truly the Dawn of a New Era. 4 Table of Contents High School. . Junior High Elementary Personnel . . . Honors ...... Athletics.... Organizations Activities . .
