1972 WILDCAT ARNETT HIGH SCHOOL Arnett, Oklahoma SIGNS THE OF TIMES Foreword Like the progress of Arnett High School through the years, the 1972 WILDCAT has progressed from a group of ideas to this finished copy. We hope that in this yearbook you will find a record of this school year's activities, hopes, and accomplishments and that you wiU remember this year better after viewing this—the 1972 WILDCAT. Lingg, a man who himself is dedicated to our school. Mr. Lingg has taught at Arnett School for the past 15 years, and before that time he taught at Canton, Keystone, Pleasant View, and Quinlan. He served in the Armed Forces from 1940-1944 and returned to teaching at Capron. With a total of 42 years of teaching, Mr. Lingg has acquired a good under- standing of students and also many headaches. However, Mr. Lingg can still be seen patiently explaining math problems to students; and after gathering up test papers, he can be heard saying, Sold American! And this describes Mr. Lingg perfectly--he is a true American of whom we are proud. THE 1972 WILDCAT STAFF Jerry, if you flash that camera in my face one more time, I am going to dump all your pictures out! ; Please don't make me do that page over again! ; and various other moans have vibrated the rafters in the annual room. Yet the WILDCAT staff of 1972 pulled through it all. And here are some of the typical scenes that occurred before a deadline. To conclude their activities for the 1972 school year, members constructed a scrapbook on the theme of Love is... for the State Convention at Stillwater. WILDCAT CHEERLEADERS JUNIOR HIGH: Tracy Stout, Lorrie Tippit, Cathy Sargent, Dianna Stout, Sherri Freeman, Bonnie Jennings. 72 WILDCAT SPIRIT! To start out the 1971-1972 school year, the cheerleaders picked a WILDCAT mascot—Teddi Sue Suthers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Suthers. And they decided that new cheerleading suits were needed. In order to raise part of the money needed, a car bash was held at the end of the summer. When our spirits sank low, the cheerleaders strived to give us a boost of WILDCAT spirit. They had a bonfire before our game with Mooreland and burned an effigy of a bearcat—Mooreland's mascot. Also, if one had walked into the activity bus before our game at Ft. Supply, he would have been bombarded with streamers that the cheerleaders had covered the bus with; and with the dawning of the Forgan Tournament, the cheerleaders covered the small activity bus with a colorful dressing of streamers, too. 74 Honors HONORED STUDENTS Eulena Clearwater, Valedictorian; Conita McClung, Saluta torian State Honor Roll M.
