Up until Christmas they had lost only one game and that was in the Shattuck tournament. During Christmas vacation the team lost one of their most dependable guards by marriage and the team was considerable shaken-up but Evelyn Wayland and Shirley Cromwell stepped in to do a fine job. The team is losing 4 seniors this year-Sue Chesnut, Luana Caruthers, Vernita Price, and Mary Jane Woods. The team will miss these girls next year as they all played fine ball and displayed good sportsmanship. The boys entered two tournaments--Shattuck Tournament in December. The Wildcats were defeated by a strong A class school (Mangum) in the finals. Selman Tournament again the Wildcats reached the finals and were defeated by the strong Rosston club. During the Christmas vacation, the team made a trip to Durant and played 2 games. They won 1 and lost 1. Four players are graduating this year. They are Abbott, McNeely, Shelton, and Harrell. The Arnett High School will long remember these boys for their will to win and sportsman- ship.
