Rhonda Bohlen and Kevin Frerichs were anxious to cruise in their neat automobiles. Outstanding Michele Gordon and Mark Schluter certainly know how to DRESS for success. Tammy Knight and Jay Adkins are great at clowning around, even upside down. FHA ------Towards New Horizons Future Homemakers of America members were involved in many activities this year. The more productive events included the Wiener Roast in conjunction with FFA, a Sadie Hawkins Dance, a shopping trip to Lincoln Mall, and a food drive at Christmas. FHA Week consisted of Mr. Irresistible Day, Concert T-shirt Day, Illini Stuffed Animal Day, Red and White Day with a volleyball game between FHA members and the faculty. A Valentine’s Dance was held to end the week’s activities. The money-making projects this year were selling Biech candy bars, hot dogs, and pop at the basketball games. The annual banquet was held on April 7 with members receiving awards for their hard work. Members attending the State Convention in Springfield were Amy jarboe, Jamie Greene, Linda Duden, Jennie Johnson, and Ranae Zindars. The contests and awards won are too numerous to mention. During the summer, Mark Schluter and Brad Loschen received their Star Farmer Degrees. In No- vember, Ted Vinson, Tammy Knight, Brad Loschen, Jay Adkins, Dawn Brooks, and Kevin Frerichs attended the National FFA Convention held in Kansas City. Throughout the school year, under the supervision of Robin Harlan, the members participated in various ac- tivities and events. FFA Week held in February includ- ed Farmer Dress-Up Day, Truck Day and Cowboy Dress-Up Day, Teacher Appreciation and Hat Day, Petting Zoo, and Official Dress Day. Also included in the week’s activities was the annual FFA and Faculty Basketball Game. The faculty pulled through with a win by a score of 36-28. The annual FFA Banquet was held on April 4, 1987, at 6:30 p.m. A good dinner and program was enjoyed by all. During the school year, the Arm- strong Student Council kept busy with many activities. Bill Pyle and Mike McCoy spoke to the students about peer pressure. The Homecom- ing Dance was, once again, a big success, along with Class Competi- tion and Student Council Week in the spring. Five members attended the IASC Convention at St. Louis in May. Student exchanges were initi- ated again this year with several oth- er schools participating. They also captured first in the Arm- strong Fresh-Soph tournament. Aren’t we proud and happy! Congratulations! Thanks, the cake was delicious! All the hard work at practice pays off. Amy Pflugmacher and Kristy Roberts received Honorable Mention All County in Vermilion County. ATHS was very proud of their out- standing volleyball teams this year. Varsity’s overall record was 6-11. Varsi- ty placed third in the Bismarck Invitational Tournament. This year’s team was mainly made up of seniors and a few juniors. The seniors will certainly be missed next year. The JV team had a very successful year. Their overall record was 10-4. Coach Her- man said, “These players worked very well together. They set the ball up for spikes more than any ATHS JV team has for a long time.’’ ATHS looks forward to another great year with these returning JV players. Team concentration??? Serious Sluggers!
