The group's accomplishments in- cluded barbecue and pop sales at ballgames, a weiner roast and Christmas party, Sadie Hawkins and Sweetheart Dances, the annual banquets and rallies, a trip to Brookfield Zoo and this year's money-raising drive to help the Cancer Society. The most popular Votec areas are office careers, building trades, welding and auto work. Depending upon the career slots available, the vocational-technical training at the Tilton center is available to any junior or senior. Such training can be invaluable for those students who take full advantage of the Votec experience. Spanish Club Spanish Club activities began with the Hallow- een party at which gifts were given to Dennis for his best costume as an old woman. The Christmas party fun was next. Members performed on many oc- casions: basketball games, fashion show, several out- standing concerts and contests. Together Again in 1980 The reuniting of friends was one of the highlights of the 1980 ATHS Homecoming. The Trojan victory over the Artesians was the beginning of a pleasant night of dancing to the songs of Goin' Strong ' The evening was topped with the coronation of King and Queen, Barry Stewart and Anna Carley. 25 26 27 Saucy sorceresses and regal royalty clashed with a harried husband and a meddlesome mother- in-law as confusion reigned in the ATHS pro- duction of “Off With His Head!! Cast included Debbie Smith, Jay Schlueter, Anna Carley, Steph Dautzenberg, Gary Freymiller, Mark Porter, Jolie Stewart, Beth Marron, Dennis Dautzenberg, Maureen Flem- ing, David Goodhue, Lisa Pflugmacher, Delores Buck, Mike Shumate, and Joe Buck. Co-directors were Evelyn Miller and Melody Domanico. Student director was Vonda Jarvis, and stage manager was Barry Stewart. Is this how Fido does it? Please let it not break . . . They're right in front of you! Oh you big babies! With the talented and generous help of her husband Ron, Mrs. Domanico led the chorus and bands to swinging times at the spring concert. Oooh . . . play more of that Glenn Miller! for Spring! Seniors received roses in appreciation for their outstand- ing performances throughout the year. Their talents and warmth will certainly be missed! 31 Beauty and the Beast at Fantasy Island The Woman from Mars is ready to go out and eat some ears . . while Brad is feeling his way to the cookies! 32 Baseball Second place in the E.C.C.! Minor team changes occurred in the fall and spring baseball seasons this year. Brad Pribble moved away, whereas Jim Carley, Jim Vermil- lion, Steve Williams and Steve Frerichs were replaced by Gary Freymiller in the spring. The fall record was 4-6. David Goodhue was selected to the All Iroquois Conference. In spring, the improved team won 8 out of their 12 games and 6 out of 9 in the E.C.C., with strong pitchers David G. and Les Schluter being selected to the All E.C.C. team. Keep hitting, guys! The Varsity team scored a 4-7 record and looks forward to a more successful season next year. They ended the year with a 1-10 record. Keeping their spirit strong was sponsor Sally Acton, to whom the girls have expressed their thanks for being not only a good leader, but A Super Friend ! Ackerman, Coach Bezely, J. Stewart, R. Rademacher, L. Koebel, D. Smith, L. Pflugmacher, M. Camp, C. Buck. Both the Varsity and the Junior Varsi- ty girls' basketball teams enjoyed a banner year. The Varsity posted a fi- nal record of 16 wins and 6 losses. Their Iroquois Conference of 7 wins and 1 loss was good for Second Place, while a 7 and 2 count in the East Central Conference earned a tie for Third Place in the final standings. Included among the victories was an exciting 40 to 37 win over Jamaica, last year's second place finisher in the state tournament and their only loss in the conference this year. The JV compiled a 17-1 record including a perfect 8 and 0 in the I.C.C. for First Place! Their only loss of the season was a one point decision! Cecelia Buck won first team honors in the Iroquois, East Cen- tral and Vermilion County choices. RaNae Rademacher and Denise Ackerman also made team honors. Most of these children will one day pass through and beyond the halls of Armstrong High. But of course, there will always be some kids who'll be horsing around here for a long time . . . 86
