High School Armstrong, Illinois Table of Contents Dedication 4 Activities I1 Sports 43 Administration 55 Freshmen 61 Sophomores 65 Juniors 69 Seniors 73 The Senior Class of 1972 wishes to dedicate this yearbook to our fellow class- mate, Sonna Knoll, who will always be fondly remembered. SONNA KNOLL January 7, 1954—December 13, 1970 Though nothing can bring back the hour Of splendor in the grass, Of glory in the flowers, We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind. William Wordsworth The sun smiled on Armstrong for another 180 days. We set out to remember the year and while thinking about it, move ahead. Somewhere in the past year. we found time to make decisions and accept responsibility. The scenes that took place set the stage for today and tomorrow. The past is but a prologue . . . 5 AN IMAGE OF SMOKING Freshmen Initiation September 10— The Class of '72 introduced the Class of '76 to the realm of ATHS on September 10. The Royal couple was King Tim Rasmussen and Queen Candy Handley. There was a large array of animals from a local farm. Bathing beauties demonstrated superb hip action, and the grand finale was when the greenies squirmed across the gum at the feet of the Seniors. Dreams Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow. Langston Hughes Summer Come Down Easy Summer com down easy so that I can see just who I'm tali Summer come down easy so that I can see just who I'm talkin' to. For I've been talkin’ to the ceiling I've been talkin' to the floor and laughing at the shadow sneaking underneath the door. Summer come down easy so that I can see just who I’m talkin' to. I've had a conversation goin' with a second-story window and it's gettin’ so I don't know if I'm making any inroads. Summer come down easy let me see your face drive me into August or some other public place and come down easy. If you come at all summer come down easy let me climb upon your back and spur you through the fall. Rod McKuen
