With humility, we the class of '65 dedi- cate this Resume to the memory of our beloved late President, John F. Kennedy. It is our feeling that this man has in- fluenced our lives more than any other individual we have known. At the mention of his name, we shall always recall these past four years, his fleeting wispof glory, which we cannot forget. We have selected the following, which express best that which we feel. The young, perhaps, felt his loss the deepest because John F. Kennedy had a special appeal for the young. It was as the Harvard University chaplain told the students at special memorial services: “We took courage from his courage, and we were lifted up by the grandeur of his vision. Our common life has been diminished, our joy darkened, our light tarnished.” ( A JOHN F. KENNEDY MEMORIAL: Macfadden-Bar- tell Corporation, 1964.) Our roll of honour is long, but it holds no nobler figure. He will stand to those of us who are left as an incarnation of the spirit of the land he loved....He loved his youth, and his youth has become eternal. Debonair and brilliant and brave, he is now part of that immortal England which knows not age or weariness or defeat. (Pilgrim’s Way: John Buchan.) “The rudder of our ship was he, our castle’s corner-stone: We thought you would not die- -we were sure you would not go, And leave us in our utmost need to Cromwell’s cruel blow- - Sheep without a shepherd, when the snow shuts out the sky- Oh, why did you leave us, Owen? Why did you die?” (Thomas Davis)
