lv 'S. Two musical groups, the Coachmen and the Buster Smith Orchestra, entertained at the Snowball to provide a change of beat for the dancers. m -my-.. .. E. ' X --..m.. Snowball Honors Beaut and Beast A Winter Wonderland set the mood for the Snowball on December 16 in the student center upstairs ballroom and snack bar. The ballroom featured blue lighting and a large white flocked Christmas tree with blue dec- orations. The snack bar was decorated as Santa's Workshop. Buster Smith and his Orchestra provided soft music in the ballroom and the Coachmen played rock music in the snack bar. A highlight of the Snowball was the an- nouncement ofthe Beauty and Beast winners. Sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega, the contest had 21 candidates, with ballots cast by penny votes. The S1100 taken in was used to buy a color television for the upstairs lounge. Beast was Dale Smith from BOTC, and Phi Mu Pat McGuire was Beauty. The Levee Committee, headed by Dana Flittiman, sponsored the dance,

F Climax of the Winter Olympics was the spoon dig, in which the six sorority presidents sifted through 1200 pounds of flour in search of spoons engraved with the club's names. Sans Soucfs Debbie Maddox plowed fastest and won, En mi Sweeps Winter 1 mpics Flying flour and broken eggs turned soror- ity members into bedraggled contestants for the Winter Olympics on Friday, November 10. The annual competition among the six sorori- '-Q - ties, again sponsored by Alpha Sigma Chi fraternity, was climaxed by the announcement of the winners at a dance held that night at the Cabana Hotel in Dallas. En Ami collected the most points and won the 1967 trophy. Sans Souci placed second, and Avolonte took third. Speed, strength, and ingenuity were called for throughout the afternoon as scores of girls donned sweatshirts and cut-off jeans to join in the games. ln some of the traditional events again staged, sorority representatives threw the discus, bobbed for apples, and raced tricycle Chariots. A new contest fea- tured was the ice cream feed in which blind- folded pairs raced to hand-feed their partners a pint of softened ice cream. Final event of the day was the spoon dig. David Gaines accepted the trophy and camera for Dale. Alpha Phi Omega totaled the pennies collected from a week of voting set. Mrs. Carolyn Waddell, sponsor of the Student Activities Board, in the Beauty and the Beast contest and purchased a color television accepted the gift for the students at the Snowball.
