Homecoming 1967 pens November Thousands of UT Arlington students and alumni celebrated the biggest Homecoming in the school's history on November 2, 3, and 4. An overflow crowd turned out for the bonfire dance on Thursday to swing to the sounds of Le Cirque and the Southwest FOB. A night- time parade through downtown Arlington fea- turing lighted floats preceded the bonfire on Friday. Winners of the bonfire competition for collecting the most wood were Phi Gamma Delta among the fraternities and Trinity House for the dormitories. Climax of the three-day celebration was Saturday night's football game when the Bebels tangled with the Wildcats of Abilene Christian College and whipped them. ln pre- game activities winners of the dormitory decoration and float competitions were named and trophies were awarded. Half-time was lenghtened to accommodate special an- nouncements in which three outstanding UT Arlington exes were honored and the winner of the Miss Dixie Belle title was revealed. Finalist Debbie Maddox looks on as lorja Jackson, Miss Dixie Belle, accepts congratulations at half-time for her honor. Crowds of spectators, chilled by the November night, are lured by the warmth of whirling slapping flames to the Homecoming bonfire ui .
