lack Powell, UT Arlington senior, leads students from several mid-western col- leges in a folk singing session after a days skiing on the slopes Ted Trept, senior, feels that skiing is not nearly as hard as the snow is soft ,vi- C 0 tg: X an I Ski Trip Means un n Colorado Forty-two students journeyed to Winter Park, Colorado, for a five day, between- semester ski session. Sponsoring the group were Dr. and Mrs. U. O. Herrmann and Dr. I.. C. Mathias. The Student Activities Board organized the mid-semester trip. The group stayed at the Timber House Lodge in Winter Park, about an hour's drive into the mountains west of Denver. The Inn, distinctly German in atmosphere, is owned by a German immigrant couple, Mr. and Mrs, Timerhaus. Over half of the group had never skiedg every action was an obstacle. How to get off the ski lift once you get on? Howto hold the ski poles? Howto get up after you fall down? l-low to muster enough courage to ski down a steep beginners slope? Casualties on the trip were limited to a split metal ski pole and a snapped ski. 1 ,gms 'nit , 45123 Timber House Lodge, where UT Arlington students stayed was the perfect blend of German food and European atmosphere in the Rocky Mountain.
