O is found everywhere in this college. Arlington State College begins its day when five thousand cars surge onto the campus. From the parking lots and from the dorms, a mass of people begins to move through the campus. Each person is a part of the college and each has a particular task. Administrators look through the day's appointments, profes- sors record last-minute grades from yesterdays quiz, and students fill the classrooms, the library and the student center. As the day progresses, activities increase. Throughout the day, each building hums with its own particular noises. Science Hall bubbles and hisses quietly. College Hall resounds with the sound of practice pianos, the tuning of horns, the blare of the lab band, and the quiet business of the adminis- trative offices. Unusual lectures float into the halls of the Engineering Building - a discussion of differential equations, an explanation of electrical circuits, a recitation in one of four or five languages, or a speech on marketing research. The heart of the campus is the student center. It is a mixture of all emotions- panic before a quiz, intense con- centration on a bridge game, or interest in a special lecture. The student center is also the battleground of an idealistic war between organizations and the masses. The newly formed Rebel Rousers and the Student Government try to destroy apathy. Non-joiners argue that none of the organizations are important. Thus life fills the campus until late at night when the last car leaves and the last dorm light is clicked off. l Yr- r P'

i l i l i l I L l Form is the product of a definite design. Architects at ASC have been striving to give the campus a sense of unity. The master plan for the campus is coming to life, instead of being a distant goal. The campus is achieving symmetry. Definite plans for structure and similar designs are being used in the new buildings. The forward progress of the campus is marked as each proposed change becomes a reality. Our growing campus has attained beauty with a definite character of its own. Form and structure are the physical properties that make the campus real and tangible. They are the only properties by which a campus visitor can judge ASC. Although additions will be made modern, many of the present structures will remain the same and will link the future college to the past college.
