For 27 years, Dr. Murchison has endowed the college with his knowledge, leader- ship, and prestige. Laughingly termed by his associates a crusader , Dr. Murchison has been active in civic and church work apart from his college work. Author of the ASC chemistry textbook and articles in scientific journals in the field of chemistry, Dr. Murchison has been recognized by the pub- lications fllffemuzzz Alexz of Sioiwlfe and llylmff llffvo 211 Iinlnvrzliozz. Dr. Murchison came to Arlington State as the head of the chemistry department. Adding work on college committees and department adminis- tration to his schedule of teaching, Dr. Murchison has guided the chemistry department through 27 years of growth.

ASC SHOWPIECE The two-million-dollar Engineering Building was officially opened for classes Thursday, October 15, 1960. Classes in mathematics and engineering moved into the building then with the opening of the fall semester although construction was not complete. Work on the building was initiated March 22, 1959. The four floors added much needed space to Arlington State facilities. Offices transferred to the building included those of the president, director of services, and the academic deans.
