The Arlington High School Student Council is a self-governing body of twenty-four representatives elected by the four classes as well as two additional members chosen by the Arlington Technical High School. The Student Council reflects the ideas and opinions of the entire student body. This selected group of students is well able to assume the required responsibilities. All of the members exemplify the type of fine teen-agers we have in America today. The members of the student council are elected by the students in the early part of the school year. In the course of the year the Student Council sponsors several charitable projects; such as, a collection for the Junior Red Cross, the Heart Fund, and UNICEF. For the first time this year the Student Council was given the opportunity to do volunteer service at the Bedford Veteran ' s Hospital. A selected group from the school as a whole along with members of Student Council do volunteer service there once a week. With the help of the home economics department an Annual Teacher’s Tea is held early in October. The Student Council mem- bers act as hosts and hostesses to the faculty. This enables the teach- ers to get acquainted with the members of the council. In order to raise money for worth-while causes, the Student Council organizes an amateur show, an auction, a tag day, and afternoon dances, func- tions in which all the high school students may participate. With the able guidance of Miss Theresa Binning, the Student Council has had another successful year.
