STUDENT COUNCIL When someone thinks of Arlington High School, he will never forget one of the most influential and essen- tial activities of our sehool — The Student Council. Con- sisting of twenty four members representing the entire student body, the Student Couneil meet on the second and the fourth Thursdays of every month to decide matters pertinent to the school and the students. The purpose of the Student Council is to offer a service which is always available to the school. Fulfilling this obligation, the members collected money for the Junior Red Cross, UNICEF, and the Heart Fund. Another significant role of the Student Council is that its members act as guides for parents at the Open House. They also assist new students in finding their way to their classes in our complicated building. In October, an annual Faculty Tea, with the Student Council members as hosts and hostesses, is given. Dur- ing the past December, the Student Council had an added duty which was to give assistance to the Evalu- ation Committee when they made their survey of Arlington High School. Among the very successful activities of this year’s Student Council were an Auction and the Eriday after- noon dances in the Old Hall to which students from all classes were invited. Having instituted new activities and developed es- tablished activities, the Student Council enjoyed anoth- er busy and successful year.
