MARTHA S. MOFFATT Last year, because of the retirement of Mrs. Martha S. Moffatt, our student body and faculty lost the serv- ice of a distinguished and respected friend. Mrs. Moffatt was not only a teacher of history, the Dean of Girls, and the advisor for the student council but also a valuable friend with a true interest in countless stu- dents. For many years, she bore the heavy responsibil- ity of directing the publication of our school yearbook. In leaving our high school, Mrs. Moffatt has not en- tirely left the teaching profession; she has accepted a position for a short period in a southern college. We shall always remember her kindness, patience, and wisdom; and most of all we are grateful for her diligence in developing the social attitudes of all her students. VERONICA F. HARRY When Miss Barry retired in the spring of 1056 after many years of faithful service at Arlington High School, all of us who were fortunate enough to have had her for a teacher felt a deep loss. Her dynamic presentations kept us ever alert and eager to learn. Miss Barry’s ex- tensive cultural background enlivened many a class and assisted in broadening our cultural horizons. Far more than a language was taught in her French classes. We learned a whole way of life. Nor was M iss Barry inter- ested only in our intellectual progress; for several sea- sons, she supervised the girls’ bowling teams, an activ- ity which provided plenty of exercise and fun for everyone. We have missed Miss Barry, and we shall remember her lessons. 4
