JU IOR C ASS PLAY The Junior Class presented their play Beans for Breadfast, October 17 and 18, with Mrs. White as their director. Mimi Kent, a flighty widow who dreams of wealth, has just moved into her new ranch-type home with her son, Jarel, and her daughter, Peggy. Poor Mimi has spent practically all ber late husband's life insurance, building her new home. Unfortunately, her money ran out before she could furnish it properly. Mimi gets on her chi1dren's nerves because she is forever quoting Opal Bean, a girlhood chum with whom she has kept up a correspondence but hasn't seen in twenty years. Now Mimi is frightfully jealous of Opal because she married a wealthy Chicago banker and is forever bragging about her wonderful financial success. What Mimi doesn't know is that the Beans are just as poor as she. When Mimi learns that Opal and her family are coming for avisit she becomes frantic, and with the help of her neighbor's possessions, she tries to impress the Bean family. Everything seems to be sailing along fairly smooth when to Mimi's horrified surprise, in pops a poor relative, old Uncle Podger from the Ozarks. ln his bluff, hearty way he spills some family truths to the Beans about the Kent's background. From this point on, through lovers' quarrels, fainting, and tears of humilation, they manage to get into many hilarious complications that keep the audience laughing. Bob Cooley . . . . .
