The oc-pilot was Clar- ence Gross, and the gunners and radiomen were Olarlbel Wlnslow,Ard1th Beckner, Anna H. Stewart, Mary Innis, Ralph Fant, and Harold Hardin. On board were the eight orewmen and eighteen passengers. During the flight we landed and pick- ed up two more passengers, Lloyd Henby and Johnnie Shauck. On the flight many storms were encountered, mainly algebra and Latin. September 1, 1944, we took off from Airfield Sophomore. Six passengers were not able to continue the flight with usg Janet Dearinger, Elizabeth lo Farland, Robert E. Rouse, Rema Nelson, Leta Sheperd, and Lloyd Henby. We had the same Pilot, Cecil Elliott, but we changed orewmen. Back with us again was Anna H. Stewart, but new ones were on board. Ralph John, William Cunningham, Helen Sewright, and our oo-pilot, liss Townsend. There were many times when the ship lost much altitude on account of Uaesar and geometry. On the trip- we gained a new member, Eileen Gardner. Only fifteen passengers were leftg consequently, we were determined to work harder and make the flight a success. On Monday, August 31, 1945, we took off from Airfield Junior. Two pasa- engers were not able to continue the voyage, James Six and Ruth Rileyg how- ever, we were all glad to have with us again Evelyn Hill, who had left ua in the eighth grade. We had a new Pilot, Lawrence Pearl, and a new crewmember, Haybelle Taylor. William Cunningham, Ralph John, Clarice Townsend, and our cc-pilot, Clarlbel Winslow, were back. On the flight we lost Avanell AdK1hB. Our passengers were losing out all along the way, and the class was growing smaller year by year. There were only thirteen passengers left now. On August 30, 1945, we ascended from Airfield Senior. This was our last take-off. Again our Pilot was Lawrence Pearl. Four new crewmembers were add- edg B. Keith Rose, T. P. Potts, Hcrrene Phelps, and Clara Antle, our eo-pilot. Besides Lawrence Pearl, the only teacher able to stand last year's strain was Ralph John. There were very few storms encountered, at least none worth msn- tlonlng. We revived a book, called 'The Ramblern, which had not been in exis- tence for many years. It was quite a success. With all the help we have received from our Pilot, co-pilot, and crewmembers, we think that we have set a goal of success: and we, the class, hope that the succeeding classes will aim at an even higher goal than we have attained. l.Z7If,Q,.-1 LAS .
