Knowledge ,Well, school was out for another year. It had been a hectic year. He was sure glad it was over. He was going to take it easy now, stay up late, read more, just relax. Funny, though, he might miss the fast pace of it all. He could still remember the first weeks of the school year . . . Those first days were so trying. All those new subjects and so much to learn. He wondered if he would ever get through the year. As he thumbed through his textbooks, he realized how much there was to do. At first it was hard to get back into the routine of studying. It was hard to give up that evening with the boys just because he had a test coming up. But soon it became more or less second nature to him. He dis- covered, to his amazement, that the more he studied, the more he wanted to study. Sometimes it seemed to overwhelm him. He worked hard on one assignment only to find a bigger and more difficult one waiting for him. He felt as if he was getting nowhere. But he had kept at it and was proud of that accomplishment. Then came the day when it all paid off. Boy, he had been nervous going into his homeroom that day. It seemed as if his homeroom teacher had never moved so slow as when he handed out the report cards. At last he got his. He turned it over slowly and nearly shout- ed out loud. He'd made the honor roll and now he was eligible for a four semester honor pin! As he sat on the stage during the honor assembly he looked at all of his classmates seated 'Ollt in the au- dience and felt extra proud that he had managed to reach these heights in knowledge and deserved that pin.

Sociabilit It was here at last. The prom, with all its magical and happy specialnessg was tonight. She swirled to meet him in the rustle of chiffon, and he couldn't help noticing how attractive she looked. gif gl M iw She thought of how hectic the last week had been. Concentration was so hard to come by when she had the prom to think about. And she had been so busy getting ready. From choosing her formal to the last minute de- tails of her hair, she had been in a wonderful whirl. His weeks had been full too. Choosing a corsage, getting a new suit, and a hair cut-yes he had been busy too. He hoped she would like the corsage. Would she notice that he had washed and waxed the car? Was his tie on right? It had taken him a long time to de- cide which one to wear. He had almost been late. Well, this was that all-important night. She pinned on her corsage and he adjusted his tie nervously. Then their eyes met and they smiled happily at each other. This was the perfect night for two to enjoy together. She smiled a little to herself. She could remem- ber how nervous she had been three weeks ago. She was almost sure that he was on the verge of asking her to the prom but every time she managed to steer the conversation around to it, he had gotten nervous and changed the subject. Then he had asked her when she was least expecting it. Boy, he could remember how nervous he had been about asking her! He was sure she would say no, but he managed to work up courage, and she accepted him.
