Mr. E. Charles Lockwood, Jr., Dr. Keith G. Wurtz, Dr. Daryl B. Oldaker, Mr. Kenneth E. Dougan, Mrs. Alma Fontaine, Mr. Arvell C. Rumrey, Mr. William H. Spomer. Executives Put Their Policies Into Practice Contemplating plans for the future year, Mr. H. Slichenmyer, the superintendent of District 214, looks forward to even greater heights. Supervision of a four Year hlgh School for the flrst mme since 1956 has been a challenge to all those in administra- tive positions. An increase of students meant an increase in problems which administrators had to solve. Under the leadership of Mr. Kenneth E. Dougan, the Board of Education was responsible for the general policies of the high school. Superintendent H. L. Slichenmyer served as a liaison between the administration and the Board of Education. Together, Mr. Slichenmyer and Mr. Oliver organized and directed school procedure. As principal of Arlington High School, Dr. E. Eugene Oliver carried out the plans of the Board of Education, seeing that all teachers, employees, and students were in- formed of these plans and additions or changes in policy. Mr. Bruno W. Waara, assistant principal, had charge of student-teacher activities. From the beginning of regis- tration in August throughout the school year, all changes in students' schedules were supervised by Mr. Waara. Helping these men in the administrative and business offices were the secretaries, who handled students' records, teachers' supplies, tests, payrolls, mail, and the switchboard. I2

Molehills of paperwork develop into mountains of problems which are Janet Rightmire and Vikki Van Ness confront Mr. Nelson Lowry, dean efficiently solved by Mr. Schaff, Business Administrator at AHS. Always Read To Aid Here's a problem that entails considerable work. Take 2,185 active teenagers, and sprinkle them liberally over a 159-room building. Then help them solve their problems, large and small, and maintain a tidy school for them. Last, balance the budget that provides for all of this activity. Sound unsolvable? Well, it's being done every day at Ar- lington High School. Helping the student understand his relation to the school was the job of Arlington's Dean, Mr. Nelson Lowry, who tried to maintain harmony at A.H. Mr. John Schaff, the school's business manager, is the person to notify if a bus is late. He also directs the financial transactions dealing with the school and its organizations. This year's counselors, Mr. Whiteside, Miss Hampton, Mr. Kunnen, Mr. Cashen, Mr. Claney, Mr. F eiereisel, Mr. Randle, Mr. Thomas, Miss Harrison, Mrs. Riordan, and Miss Craig have helped to guide students in the right di- rection for both the present and the future. The job of filling the stomachs of wild-eyed, hungry students has been filled by the cooking staff under the direction of Miss Mary Handlin. Under the guidance of Mr. William Greismeyer, Ar- lington's new chief engineer, students were for the first time employed to be of aid to the regular janitorial staff.
