HEIGHT IN KNCWLEDGE Is that what he really said? Uh-huh, so I told him, 'Well, I'm sorry, but if that is the way you feel . . . ' 'I Say, you kids, don't we have any of the new records around here? This is ancient stuff that's on now. She was beginning to get a little peeved. She had thought that they were here to study, but apparently she had thought wrong. Well, she was go- ing to do her homework, even if they kept on ignoring theirs. You guys, do you think I should go on a diet? I guess I really should lose weight! Maybe some exercises would help. Does anybody know of some good ones that would . . . Did you hear about Jan? She's been going out with some fellow from . . . Won't those kids ever stop gabbing? Do'n't they ever run out of some- thing to say? For Pete's sake, this wasn't supposed to be a keep-talking ses- sion. She felt like screaming with irritation. How could she study with them jabbering like, like-well, jabbering. She hadn't lugged all of these text- books over here for nothing this afternoon. That history test tomorrow was going to be a real beaut, and she had to study for it now or else. Say did anyone see that new program on TV the other night? I haven't laughed so hard in ages. It was just a panic. They had the funniest comedian on. He told this joke about . . . 5-4-5-6-they really aren't such bad kids. They just talked too much. Oh, well she was just tired. After all, she had been going pretty hard lately. What with club meetings, term papers, tests, and telephone calls she just wasn't getting enough sleep. And then she got so irritable. Maybe she was the one that was out of tune. Boy, she wished they would be quiet. Hey, have you noticed, girls, we have a real student in our midst? Yeah, I noticed that. Isn't it disgusting? Such an honor, yet. Betty, you study too hard. What are you trying to learn? Good heavens, you know how to flirt, catch you man, and live on Fritos, hot dogs, cokes and Ricky Nelson. So, why bother? What else is there to know? She thought it all over. Maybe they were right. She had been kind of a dull Jill lately. All work and no play was making a wreck of her. O.K. kids, she said, I get the hint. Hey, doll, I know a good set of exercises that will help you lose weight right away. And another thing, that . .
