feaming oulao .fgncl Snow ewafL lf one has ever tried to cook a meal and wash dishes for his own family of four or five, he will sympathize with the Arlington and Prospect cooks, whose family numbers 3378. Twenty-eight cooks--sixteen at Prospect and twelve at Arlington--prepared and served meals for the three lunch shifts this year. They also assisted in the kitchen at special functions when invited to do so by the sponsoring organization. During the football season this group super- vised the preparation of hot dogs, cocoa, and coffee for hungry fans. All cooks were under the direction of Miss Mary Hand- lin, who held the position of cafeteria director at both schools. Planning well-balanced meals that remained with- in the budget and keeping complete and accurate accounts of funds and food stocks were also her responsibilities. PH Cus+odians Second Row: Len Kzirge, Irv Grote- fend, Frank Thies, Al Rutllns. First Row: Alex Stonelleld, Howard Vette. Bernice Lund. Patriek Logan, I-'rank Kirsehnie. Dawn till dusk were the hours for the custodians of Arlington and Prospect High School. Their work was to maintain a clean and orderly appearance about the school and campus, not only during school hours, but also after community and extra-curricular activities. Student vacations meant extra work, not extra relaxa- tion, for the custodians. During this time they performed extra tasks such as washing windows and waxing fioors. Deluges of leaves, snow, and shredded paper presented special seasonal problems for the custodians. Mr. Stanley Woznick was chief engineer for both schools. In cases of burnt-out bulbs, maladjusted thermo- stats, and blown fuses, a student was speedily dispatched to get Stan, as he is called by everyone. No problem was too great or too small to be remedied by Stan and his crew. lllll y fill! ,et......,.,,n..,. ' L.. ................ ............ -- .,, . gngqqgg .. -.-.11 ...-.... ...... ,,,, .
