Livestock, grains. and other phases of farming were focal points of the judg- ing at these contests. Recognition was also given to the boys at the Parent-Son Banquet in November, when those who had clone outstanding work in the organization were given honorary degrees. Even though a small percentage of FFA members did not live on farms, all were given opportunities to work on farms and enjoy rural life on weekends and during the summer. During school, vocational agriculture classes, in which learning the operation of farm equipment and studying soil types, conservation, and dairying were stressed. offered the boys experience in farm management.
