FUREWORD - Jig! lin Cardiey the symbol of the spirit here at Arlington. For years I've been perching on the sleeves of A swear- ers, Hying proudly in the breeze on the school Hag, and riding on the windows of the students' cars. In fact, niy picture is used for nearly everything, although I was begin- ning to think that no one would ever ask me to say any- thing. But at last I've been invited to tell, my story-as a part of the '54 Heights. I really have fun, yet I must admit I'm at a decided disadvantage when it comes to attending sports events. l almost got stepped on by the crowd at the Homecoming game-a poor little bird just doesn't have a chance. The thrill of the successful, mad dash for victory made the struggle worthwhile. Dances wear me out, and the Senior Ball was no excep- tion. They must have known I was coming thoughg they very thoughtfully placed a huge pine tree right in the middle of the floor. Maybe you saw me there sitting on the top branch. I certainly enjoyed seeing everyone in his best clothes. I nearly lost my tail feathers rushing around getting ready for the Talent Show. The students worked hard rehearsing and making costumes, but their work was well rewarded with the excitement of a first night and the audiences continued applause. But enough of this. I'm sure you'd much rather see the students in action. So come on, hop through the pages with me. Iill lead the way. Ca rake
