A.F.S. Student '31 -an , Karsten Zrum X. l Harold Griffith Family And Karsten. Karsten And Host Brother Rodney. Karsten drum, Arlington High School's second American Field Service student came to us from Sulsted, Denmark, a small town of about 500 population. Karsten was born in Nprresundby, Denmark on December 9, 1954. He is the son of Dr. Erik and Mrs. jorunn Drum. He has a fifteen year old sister, Marianne, who attends high school in Denmark. His father is a veterinarian surgeon of large animals. His mother serves as housewife, mother and secretary for his father. Karsten graduated from his Danish high school on june 15, 1971 from a class of ten girls and four boys. He plans to at- tend college upon his return to Denmark, where he wants to study languages and become a school teacher. While in Den- mark Karsten enjoyed hunting and fishing, shooting, skiing, horseback riding, and soccer. Karsten arrived in the United States on August 17, 1971 as an American Field Service student. He stayed with his host family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Griffith and his host brother Rodney. While at Arlington, Karsten was a kicker on the Red Devil football team, in which he averaged 50 yards a kick. He was also a member of the International Club, Varsity Club, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. Karsten Drum was indeed a fine representative of the A. F. S. program and of his home country Denmark. Karsten has left many fine impressions and thoughts with a great many people. The Class of 72 wishes him the best of luck in the years to come. The hurnan aspect of my stay has without doubt been the most important and valuable thing that I will take back home with me. I was impressed with the openness, friendlyness, and informality showed to me by the American people. People have done so much to help make my stay in America as pleasant as possible, and I am sure these people have given me something very important. Karsten Drum 24
