Following a gradual increase in' enrollment over the past years, Arlington School found itself showing a probable decrease of enrollment in 1968. In 1928 the Arlington School Dis- trict enrolled 387. Twenty years later, in 1948, the district enrolled 419. Now, in 1968, the enrollment stands at 668. How- ever, the farms grewlarger in size and fewer in number. Graduates moved to other cities and other states. These events slowed the growth of our school. Other events highlighted the year 1968. The new standards for high schools became effective on July 1. Students needed seventeen units of credit to graduate. Public meetings were held to discuss reorganizing the county and city schools. The state and the students began demanding vocational education. There are indications that these events are only forerunners of more significant changes. As we move to accept automa- tion and urban living, our desires and needs change. The demand calls for equal housing practices, equal rights, and a better education The faculty, staff, and students look forward to meeting the changes to the very best of our ability.
