llBAlINIllID The band .started the 1942 school year by attending the Lucas County Fair where they displayed marching and formation talent. They also played at the Findlay-Adrian College football game at Donell Stadium on October 24. Other activities consisted of playing at all the local football games, two sessions of the Hancock County Fair and a music festival held at Napoleon, Ohio on May 9. They received a high rating at the District Band Contest held at Bowling Green. Those who entered the instrumental district contest at Ada on April ll were: Madge Newman, bassoong Ellen Suter, clarinet: Bill Wilch, eornetp and Printy Arthur, trombone. 4EllHllflDlIRlllQWQ The three choral groups, girls. boys. and mixed chorus entered the district contest at Bluffton, on March 21. The boys and mixed chorus won first place and the girls were chosen as alternates. They entered in the state contest held at Columbus on April 24 at which they received a high rating. Other activities in which the chorus participated during the year included the Christmas Cantata entitled. Child Jesus which was presented on December 12. The highspot of the year was the program given for the Farmers' Institute Ballads for Americans in which the featured soloist was Mr. Bentley Ford of Chicagog Ill. From the chorus we had several who participated in the district solo and ensemble contest at Ada on April ll. Those who entered in the contest were: Vivian Marohn. Soprano: Rose Davis. Mezzo-Soprano: Betty Hite. Alto.
