THE SEA XYith thundering roar and dripping foam Resounds the sea by whichl roam. The thrilling cry of gray-winged gull Adds gloom to the grave of many a hull. In whose ghostly timbers lie ' The whitening bones of those gone by. This ghastly scene does change above To azure wastes that all must love. O'er whose proud expanse, man's might Does quail and crumble when in its sight. In jutting, barren, green-clad rocks The minute barnacle man's labor mocks. And close beside the safe surf pools, King Crab does dwell and o'er his realm he rules Thus the seething gurge of ocean might And continuous splash of white-capped waxe Does spell an everlasting fight Between proud earth and ocean grave.
