Homecoming for 1967 was especially good for the class of ’68 as the seniors created their third triumphant float in as many years. Alan Hart and Nancy Bartley ascend to the top of the stairway on their way to the 1968 Junior Prom. The prom was held in the In- ternational Room of the Holiday Inn. 4

Students, Activities Have Varied Success Deciding on a single idea that will encompass all of the varied ideas, activities, and emotions of a group of people is always difficult. Because of the extreme that this variety was carried to during the past year, this year’s COLT CORRAL carries a very unusual theme. The year had both its ups and downs. The spirit was terrific; the spirit was terrible. The football team did well; they performed far below their ability. Tests were passed; tests were failed. Dances and parties were good; dances and parties were bad. As Charles Dickens said, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. It was the age of wisdom; it was the age of foolishness. It was the spring of hope; it was the winter of despair.” However, it was not actually just another year. The success of various activities far outweighed the deficits and combined to make 1967-68 a very good year at Arlington High School. Winter Events Prove To Be Best, Worst ) greets Carmen (Mike Kelly) during a [tie! depicting happenings at girls’ teas. Both academic and extracurricular events during the year exemplified the COLT CORRAL theme to perfection. The “best of times” was discovered by the senior class of 1968 during homecoming. This October event brought to the graduating class its third first- place float in as many years. However, this unpre- cedented triumph too soon faded away as the home- coming football game ended wjth the Colts on the short end of a 22-17 score. The “winter of despair” followed as members of the Arlington basketball team consistently played their hardest, but had trouble finding the right com- bination for a victory. Schoolwork still provided the bulk of the wisdom and hard times while the lighter side of AHS sur- vived in the assemblies that were presented. Such programs as those presented for the Package Plans, Western Day, Twirp Week, Howdy Day. and count- less others made the school year not onl| the “age of wisdom”, but also th 4 “age of foolishness”. Even with the setbacw and the bad times, the members of the student body managed to produce one of the finest years Mat any group has ever known. 1) ane Baugh studies silently ■ii d diligently for her final xam ending Senior English. 5
