Laneri bogged down and had to kick. Glasgow returned to the Micks 34. On the second play Davault lugged 32 yds. to score. The conversion attempt was no good. Glasgow took a Laneri quick kick the the Colt 38 yd.line After three runs by Gunn and Marshall, Marshall went over for a T. D. Gunn converted. After an intercepted pass by Hill, a Glasgow-to-Davault pass clicked to the Laneri two yd. line. Gunn rammed over for the score. Pope converted. MESQUITE Arlington fans saw the Colts cross the double stripe 8 times to swamp the Mesquite âSkeetersâ by a 52-13 score. The Coltâs ground game was sparked by the impressive gains of Marshall and Gunn. Marshall gained 239 yds. in 14 carries for an average of 17 yds. per carry. Gunn racked up 180 yds. to add to Marshallâs gains to total 419 yds. by the âtouchdown twins. 32 of the 52 points were accounted for by this dynamic duo. A Dennehy-to-Hill pass added another 6 points with Sleeth converting. The Skeeter's scores were made in the 3rd quarter on a pass, and on an end sweep. The Colts did not have to play at full throttle that night because they al- ready had the District 12-A Champion- ship sewed up. Gunn made the first three scores on long runs. He converted 2 points. Marshall made the last score on a 7 yd. plunge. NEWCASTLE For the first time in Arlingtonâs history, the Colts wo their first post season victory. It was from the Newcastl Bobcats in T. C. U. Stadium. The Colts got their first touchdown just three minute deep in the first quarter. This came after Cribbs covere a Bobcat fumble on the second play of the game. Ten play later, the Colts had scored. Gunn made the T. The deciding tally came when Gunn kicked t h e winning point. The score climaxed a 47 yard drive. KERMIT Line play seemed the deciding factor whenKermit edged out the Colts for the State finals by 21-12. The ponies were ahead when Eugene Pope recovered a fumble on the Kermit 8 yd. line.
