FQREWORD One fact must become increasingly evident to the members of the Class of i942 as they are about to join hands with our former graduates. There are tvvo distinct groups of human beingsi those vvho give, and those vvho receive. The receivers are those vvho merely absorb knovvl- edge, read books, attend movies and listen to the radio. They are satis- fied to enjoy life through the mediums afforded them. The givers are those vvho, after having received the benefit of the experience of other people, find satisfaction in the creation of channels through which others vvill enjoy life. Those who receive do the routine vvork day in and day out. Those who give plan projects, build factories, make discoveries and create jobs. Both classes of people are essential in the providential scheme of things. ln vvhich group vvill you be happier? Your record as the Class of T942 gives evidence that you have given a great deal to your school, May you as individuals maintain that record in your days to come, to the end that you, your country, and your home will profit from the lessons you learned while attending Arlington l-ligh School, GEORGE A, SCl-IIAVONE, Superintendent of Schools.
