Foreword MOTHER YEAR HAS PASSED, AND again the members of another graduating class are weighing an- chors and setting out toward new horizons. Volumes could be written on what you, the class of ' 40, have done, but suffice it to say that your four years have been rich, full, and j stimulating. If this book can bring back an occasional glimpse of those good old days, it will have served its purpose. If, in addition, its treasured memories can rekindle the enthusiasm, the hope,- and the courage which were so evident in your high school activities, then the 1940 Anchors will have made a double contribution to your happi- ness.
