Student Council Activities ances, Broomball Included in Events The Student Council sponsored a variety of events during the year. To kick things off, the Student Council organized the Howdy Program which introduced new students and freshmen to the clubs and activities at Heights. Ice skating parties were planned during Christmas, Thanksgiving and the end of February. During the fun on the ice two clubs or organizations competed in a broomball game. As a service to the school, the council placed large yellow trash cans around the campus to encour- age students to keep the area clean. The Ranch King and Queen elec- tion was sponsored by the Student Council in january. Winners were jim Calhoun and Sandra Hamilton. Mr. Homer Ludiker and Mrs. Dorothy Scott, sponsors, worked with the council. Officers were Houston Kauffman, president, Glenn Darden, vice-president, Donna Forester, secretary, and D'Ann O'malley, treasurer. ,af ff -dl' 'L A Susan Rogers, with the aid of Glen Erath, demonstrates the proper way to ice skate. Valentine's Day Cupids Send Messages of Love to Hill Cupids roamed the Halls of Heights as they delivered telegrams to students' secret loves. Sponsored by the Student Council, students paid a quarter for their telegrams to be sent to friends. The messengers, adorned in bright red hearts and crisp white ruffles, were members of the Socials and Special Projects Committees. Only boys were permitted to nominate and vote on the first annual Valentine Sweetheart. Anne Szablowski Was presented at the Valentine's Ball, February 16. The dance was held at the International Ballroom in the Blackstone Hotel. The dress was casual and music was provided by Robert Ealey and his Five Careless Lovers. Paula Anderson laughs after delivering a Valentine telegram to an unsuspecting Lisa Ratliff. Greg Newman signs a telegram for his secret love as Honey Burns watches. Shari Heftel gets ready to take some telegrams to some more victims of love-stricken senders,
