Spirit Homecoming Brings Southwest Defeat Spirit rose to a climax as q'We,re num- ber one,', echoed throughout Clark Sta- dium during the annual Homecoming game when the Yellow jackets shut out the Southwest Rebels with a 10-O tri- umph. The victory gave Heights the dis- trict championship which proved the jackets were back and here to stay. It was the first time a Heights varsity football team had beaten Southwest. Enthusiasm and excitement were gener- ated by the senior girls' many signs, bal- loons, and crepe paper adorning the school. Mr. Archie Steven's homeroom 21 won first place for the best locker decora- tions with the theme Happiness is Win- ning? Donna Forester was crowned 1972 Homecoming Queen. Her court included seniors Becky Bagby and Patty Furey. The girls were presented during half time cer- emonies as they were escorted out on the field by their fathers. Many exes returned to take part in Homecoming festivities. Redwood pro- vided the music at Round-up Inn for the Homecoming Ci21I'1CC. Mr. J. R. Club Activities Marx Brothers Present Humor to Hill Beginning the yearls activities was the Howdy Dance on the school patio sponsored by Allied Youth. ln january, AY presented a Marx Brother,s movie A Day at the Races. The slapstick comedy was, shown in the auditorium. Under the direction of Mrs. Mar- tha Austin, AY also sponsored the Mostest Contest in February. AY president Bill Paxton introduced the master and mistress of ceremonies, Mr. and Miss AHHS, Houston Kauffman and Anne Szablowski. judges were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Maderias, photographers, Richard Churchill, district attorney, and Mrs. Wardene Azlin, director of the Stair- Way to the Stars. While waiting for the decision of the judges, the audi- ence Was entertained by John Berry and Bill Hines who sang golden oldies of the '5O's. Winners of the Mostest Contest were Cheri Smith and Mark Metcalf, Most Talented, Ann Lindsay, Most Beautiful, and jeff Fralia, Most Handsome. Chico, Groucho, and Harpo Marx appear in the AY sponsored movie, A Day at the Races David White and Houston Kauffman prepare to take their seats at the Marx Brotheris movie held in the Heights auditorium.
