Spirit Homecoming Brings Southwest Defeat Spirit rose to a climax as q'We,re num- ber one,', echoed throughout Clark Sta- dium during the annual Homecoming game when the Yellow jackets shut out the Southwest Rebels with a 10-O tri- umph. The victory gave Heights the dis- trict championship which proved the jackets were back and here to stay. It was the first time a Heights varsity football team had beaten Southwest. Enthusiasm and excitement were gener- ated by the senior girls' many signs, bal- loons, and crepe paper adorning the school. Mr. Archie Steven's homeroom 21 won first place for the best locker decora- tions with the theme Happiness is Win- ning? Donna Forester was crowned 1972 Homecoming Queen. Her court included seniors Becky Bagby and Patty Furey. The girls were presented during half time cer- emonies as they were escorted out on the field by their fathers. Many exes returned to take part in Homecoming festivities. Redwood pro- vided the music at Round-up Inn for the Homecoming Ci21I'1CC. Mr. J. R. Spirit Barber Crowned 1973 asketball Queen Adding to the excitement of the basketball season were many new cheers and chants. Basketball queen Brenna Barber represented Heights in the West Side Lions Club tourna- ment during pre-season play. The senior girls backed the boys with their posters, poems, and cookies. Leon Bowman, new basketball coach, came from Houston High School in Arlington.
