SPIRIT Iacket Spirit: A Tradition of the Hill Rallying the spirit to a greater momentum than in any plrevious gear, the decorations of the auditori- um, alls, an fieldhouse, expressed the enthusi- asm of the Heights' campus throughout the football season. The imaginative signs and banners were created by the decorations committee and the sen- ior girls. Cheerleaders and the newly formed Spirit of the Hill club amplified the spontaneous reaction of the student body durin the pep rallies and at the games. After each game, acket supporters came to congratulate or console t e team at the fieldhouse. Parents, faculty, and most important, the student body, exemplified the traditional spirit for which Heights is known. . HOMECOMINC Heights Falls In Students sensed an atmosphere of frenzied ex- citement as Homecoming approached. With the re- turn of many exes, and with messages from those unable to attend, impatient eagerness was draped about Heights as the students prepared furiously for the annual game and dance. Mrs. Ceoggia Dickerson's Homeroom 15, usin the theme o Wring the Rebels, won the award for best locker decorations. Other outstandinglex- amplles of locker decorations were Grant the eb- gs l o,Lee-Way, and Make the Rebels Whistle ixie. Elected queen by the student body, Sharon Chester reigned over her Homecoming court, Ioan Uberman and Christy Mercer. Also present were Ianet Kauffman - 1968 Homecoming queen, Ken Gire - 1968-69 Student Body President, and Iody Ambrose - former Mr. AHHS. Heights' first district competition was a hard fought and thrilling contest that saw the Iackets narrowly defeated 7-0 by the Rebels. The game was televise in color over station KDTV, Channel 39. The Homecoming Dance at Round-up Inn capped a very exciting evening for students and exes alike.
