It was in the spring of 1957 that this activity became a regular part of the school's athletic program. And, the sport has been gaining in popularity ever since. In the spring of 1959, the track squad participated in five meets, including the District and Regional contests. Coach Harold Gab and Captain Jack Brown were responsible for the great interest in the activity, which has promise of becoming even more popular. The first meet of the season was held in Glencoe. With eleven schools participating, the Arlington-Green Isle Indians finished third. The next meet was held in Montgomery, and the Indians finished third. The squad also participated in the St. John's College Invitational. Inclement weather was responsible for cancelling two addi- tional meets. For the third straight year, Arlington-Green Isle participated in the District meet, held at Mankato, and finished third with 43 1 4 points.
